We'll contribute to various organisations, each assigned to different year levels. St Vincent de Paul Society, also known as Vinnies, provides aid following Catholic principles of love, respect, justice, hope, and joy. The Adelaide Day Centre aids the homeless, while Centacare focuses on youth homelessness and domestic violence, as discussed by Director Leane Haddad at our recent assembly. This year, Vinnies requests non-perishable food items, while the Adelaide Day Centre and Centacare seek bedding, hygiene products, clothing, and household supplies. If each person donates three items, we will contribute nearly 5,000 items. Encouraging friends and family to join us amplifies our impact, making our 1478 Appeal even more successful. Service enables us to contribute positively to all in our community. Humility permits selfless service, focusing on others' needs. Jesus' example and teachings stress compassion and dignity for all. As Ignatians, we use our gifts to support the marginalised, guided by virtues such as love, reflectivity, hope, justice, joy, and curiosity. Sharing what we have with those in need nurtures generosity in us. Placing the marginalised at the forefront of our concerns cultivates courage. Care for Country Are you passionate about sustainability and Aboriginal reconciliation? Join our dynamic Care for Country group, dedicated to fostering awareness and action in these crucial areas. Meetings are held three times a term during lunch in the Faith and Service hub under the guidance of Mr Hauschild and Mrs Coxhill. Care for Country welcomes all students. You can engage at your own pace. Involvement will foster leadership, collaboration, and public speaking skills. We're not just about meetings: we're about making a tangible difference. Whether it's participating in chapel services, launching school projects, or advocating for environmental and reconciliation initiatives, Care for Country empowers students to be changemakers within the College community. One of our recent successes includes securing a grant to combat plastic waste, transitioning College events to refill stations, and promoting reusable water bottles. We've also conducted a comprehensive carbon inventory and introduced innovative waste management solutions on campus. Our impact extends beyond the school gates. From participating in tree-planting events to attending sustainability courses and conferences, Care for Country members are actively involved in broader ecological initiatives and solidarity efforts with First Nations communities. Join us to make a difference for our planet and promote reconciliation year-round. Together, we can build a more sustainable and inclusive future for all. Fr Peter Hosking SJRector Staff Ignatian Formation Day On Monday, April 29, our Senior School campus was a bustling hub of activity as staff from all campus gathered for our annual Staff Formation Day. As Ignatian educators, we embarked on a journey of self-discovery, guided by the profound insights of Bruce Hulme, a theologian and spiritual guide deeply immersed in Ignatian spirituality. Bruce spoke about liminality, a word for threshold. It is about the in-between places, betwixt and between. Activities such as planting, weaving, moulding, drawing, and walking became metaphors for our own journeys, symbolic of the transformative processes we undergo as we navigate life's transitions. Through these activities, staff had the opportunity to consider the key challenges facing our community in a time of change and the invitation to love and serve more fully in our life and ministry.
