Bursaries

Saint Ignatius wanted his schools to be open to all classes of people, rich and poor alike. In keeping with our Jesuit heritage at Saint Ignatius’ College, Adelaide, it is the College’s wish to offer bursaries to families who may be seeking a Catholic education in the Ignatian tradition but whose current financial circumstances prevent them via the standard application process. The principal criterion for the provision of financial assistance from the Bursary Fund is a demonstrable, means-tested inability to afford an Ignatian education. In addition to financial need, consideration is also given to people of a refugee and/or first peoples background.

Bursaries are not related to our excellence, academic or music scholarship program but are intended to provide an opportunity to Catholic families whose commitment to their faith is evident to all in the community. Saint Ignatius College believes that when there is a congruence between the values and beliefs held in the home with those of the College, it is possible for wonderful things to happen in the lives of young people.

The College has very substantial responsibilities to ensure that Bursary Fund monies are distributed with equity, confidentiality and compassion at all times. Each case will be assessed on its merits and, where appropriate, the Rector and Principal exercise their discretionary power to apply financial assistance. It is essential that families applying for bursaries submit all appropriate documentation, including financial records, in support of the application within a stipulated period. Bursaries are reviewed on an annual basis.
