Students at Saint Ignatius’ College embark on an enriching educational journey from a young age.

As early as Reception, our students undertake a broad range of specialist subjects that set them apart from their peers.

Under the expert guidance of dedicated specialist teachers, they are encouraged to explore beyond the traditional classroom, experiencing advanced learning opportunities that foster curiosity and creativity.

On any given day, our students might find themselves investigating chemical reactions in the science laboratory, playing their first melodies in the music room, or designing an object for 3D print in our modern digital technology suite. To support this, our welcoming and innovative Junior School campus boasts high-quality, purpose-built spaces that are remarkable in a junior primary setting.

This early exposure to a diverse range of subjects encourages students to build confidence in their abilities and supports their intellectual and personal growth.

It provides them with a well-rounded education that nurtures their individual potential and prepares them for success in future academic challenges – a strong foundation for an Ignatian education.

Science

Students develop their understanding of the world around them by investigating phenomena, making predictions and solving problems. Through exploration, observation and inquiry, students are encouraged to be curious and critical thinkers who experience the joy of scientific discovery and identify the importance of science in our daily lives.

Digital Technology

Students become innovative creators and problem-solvers as they explore coding, robotics, and digital systems. Through hands-on learning and design thinking, they build the skills to navigate and shape an ever-evolving digital world with confidence and curiosity.

Music

Students are immersed in a vibrant program where they sing, move, compose, and listen as active musicians. Throughout music at the Junior School, students develop confidence, creativity, and a deep appreciation for music in all its forms.

Art

Students are immersed in both theory and practice, developing technical skills, exploring creative techniques, engaging with art history, and becoming confident, critical thinkers of visual culture. Students also build emotional resilience, seeing “mistakes” not as failures but as chances to learn and try again; supporting them to be brave, confident and inventive.

Language (Mandarin)

Students develop their Chinese language skills while exploring rich cultural traditions, customs, and modern perspectives. Through interactive lessons, creative projects, and authentic experiences such as incursions and excursions, students gain an appreciation of cultural diversity and grow as confident global citizens.

Physical Education

Students are engaged in developing their movement skills and showing games awareness as they progress through year levels. With an emphasis on themes rather than specific sports or games, students develop their ability to transfer physical skills into a range of situations.
