She worked extensively within the charcoal medium while exploring ideas and styles to communicate her feelings, concerns and anxieties around Year 12 and the expectations one carries prior to embarking on post-school life. The final suite of works Alannah created for her SACE Practical Resolution comprised five large scale charcoal drawings. Alannah, when discussing her work said: “Collectively, they symbolize the moment of self-realization, whereupon finding oneself, one embarks on a journey into the world, encapsulating the overarching question: “What was I made for?” This question became the title for her highly successful body of work. The standout piece was a highly detailed self-portrait complete with a symbolic golden thread intertwined into her long hair signifying value and hope. The College community was fortunate to have been able to view Alannah’s work, alongside the work of other successful Year 12 Art students, Luke Henry, Mia Kelly and Lia Lavenant at our Year 12 Art and Design Exhibition held in October 2023. The College is proud to announce that Alannah’s work has been chosen to be hung in the 2024 SACE Art Show. The exhibition showcases the work of approximately one hundred exceptional students from South Australia. It is an honour for the Art Faculty and the entire school community to have Alannah’s work on show. The exhibition runs from March 19 to April 12 at the Light Square Gallery, Adelaide.
