This week at Ignatius Early Years (IEY), we had our Parent Acquaintance and Information Evening. This was a lovely opportunity for parents to meet and get to know each other before heading into their child’s classroom to hear from the teachers. As the IEY is one of the earliest entries to the College, the families that start in our three year old program may end up at the Year 12 graduation in 15 years, wondering how fast the time has gone. The IEY is the beginning of lifelong friendships, many conversations, and many more significant events, so it is fitting to come together to celebrate.

Even younger are the children in our IEY playgroup who are invited to join us on Monday mornings for a play with their carers. To be part of playgroup, the children need to be enrolled to start in the three year old program and, because of our high capacity this year, be six months before they turn three. One very eager sibling was so keen to be ‘at school’ that he wore his IEY uniform to playgroup and engaged in nearly all the activities with great determination.

Just a reminder regarding the IEY carpark. Please do not use the carpark during the busy rush hour times if you have Junior School children. There is a strict 15-minute turnaround, especially between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm. We ask everyone to respect this and leave the carpark to the IEY families that have very young children and prams.

As of 7 February 2024, the Junior School bus pick-up zone is in front of the IEY. As this will make the footpath rather busy around 3:15 pm, we ask that you take notice of the new IEY pedestrian red and white entry sign and teach your children to observe the stop, look, listen, think. Over the next few weeks, we will also include this in the IEY teaching program. I ask that all parents be very cautious when leaving the IEY carpark. I believe that you need to expect that a child may be crossing in front of the driveway OR crossing in front of a bus.
