Freedom for Growth and Grace

In celebrating Ash Wednesday last week, we move into the period of Lent. According to Philip Endean SJ, from the Centre of Spirituality, Paris, Lent is about opening ourselves to someone else, about stretching ourselves, so that we can receive new life. Lent is not about constriction but for lengthening and growth as we open ourselves to God’s grace and the full stature of who we are meant to be. Pope Francis’ reframing of Lent calls us from darkness into light as we:

fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude

fast from anger and be filled with patience

fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.

Fasting can be experienced as a form of self-denial or freedom from those things that cause discord in our lives.

Next Tuesday 27 February at 6:00 pm, we welcome those parents and caregivers of Year 3 and new families of Years 4 to 6 to our Parent iPad Forum. Those attending are asked to bring their child’s iPad. This interactive evening will be largely led by Apple specialist Matt Richards. As part of the hands-on experience, we learn how we can drive the iPad and play our supportive role as parents, helping our children navigate the complexities of digital learning. We unpack the responsibilities between the school and the home and how together we can keep our children safe online. This engaging forum is a great opportunity to understand the power and the complexities of educating digitally aware children for a future yet unknown. We hope to see you there.
