From the Foundation Board

Steve Baldas

We are pleased to introduce Steve Baldas as the new Chair of the Saint Ignatius’ College Foundation Board.

With a 25-year career in senior leadership roles in sports administration, both in Australia and the United States, Steve brings extensive experience to our community. His previous roles include Chief Executive of Tennis SA, Chief Operational Officer of the South Australian Cricket Association, General Manager of the Adelaide Strikers, and CEO of W Sports and Media.

Beyond his career accomplishments, Steve excelled as a professional tennis player. His athletic achievements include winning the Junior Wimbledon doubles title in 1992 and earning recognition as a four-time All-American at the University of Georgia.

Steve is a familiar face within our community, not only as an Ignatian old scholar but also as a proud parent to Sofia and Harry, current students at the College.

Steve is excited to take on this new role within our community and looks forward to nurturing lasting relationships and building upon the College’s strong philanthropic values.

Cecilia White

Cecilia is the director of Perks People Solutions – a human resources and recruitment consultancy.

She has a background as an employment lawyer, working in private practice for 10 years.

Cecilia is a current parent at Saint Ignatius’ College, and her husband is also a Senior School teacher here.

For Cecilia, the experience her children have had at the College, as well being part of the community herself for the past 12 years, is what drew her to joining the foundation board.

She says she has seen the incredible opportunities that Saint Ignatius’ College can provide students and is excited to be part of a dedicated team on the foundation to further enhance those opportunities for current and future students.

Cecilia is the deputy chair of the Saint Ignatius’ College Foundation Board.

George Capozzi

George has more than 22 years’ experience in financial markets.

He has worked across various disciplines internationally, including in investment banking, research, financial analysis, and sales and trading.

Currently, George works at Hayborough Investment Partners, which he co-founded – a boutique investment management firm, focused on identifying, evaluating, and owning high-quality businesses listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Previously, George has worked for such names as Taylor Collison, Deutsche Bank in Sydney, Barclays Bank in London and Milan, Evans & Co, and Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.

As well, he’s a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide.

George is an old scholar of the College and was previously a school captain, athletics captain, and house captain here. He has also been a treasurer and committee member of the Old Ignatians football and cricket clubs.

As part of the Foundation Board, George hopes to illuminate the significant impact of being a donor, highlighting the enduring benefits the contributions bring to future generations of Ignatian families.

Sophie Doyle

Sophie has a passion for inspiring people to give back and think about how they can support their local community.

She was recently appointed the CEO of Foundation SA, a community foundation established in 2021 to grow giving in South Australia.

Sophie started her career working in business development for professional services firm MinterEllison.

After 15 years in professional services, she decided to pursue her passion and join the non-profit sector. In 2018, Sophie joined the peak body for structured giving, Philanthropy Australia, as its SA/WA state manager.

In 2020, she took on a new challenge to create SA’s first state-wide community foundation. Foundation SA is a structured giving vehicle, offering families and businesses the opportunity to start their own fund and support causes close to their heart.

In addition, Sophie is actively involved in MumKind – a volunteer-run, non-profit organisation she founded in 2015 – and she’s a director of Community Centres SA.

As a board member of the Saint Ignatius’ Foundation, Sophie hopes to share her experience working in the philanthropic and non-profit sector to grow the culture of giving at the College.

Michael Roxas

Michael plays a pivotal role as the branding director and co-owner of VERSION • Design, Brand & Digital.

With a wealth of experience, Michael’s journey in the creative industry spans various senior positions within Adelaide-based advertising and marketing agencies. He hopes to bring his design and promotional experience to support the Foundation’s fundraising efforts into the future.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Michael actively engages in community initiatives. He has contributed his expertise to organisations like the Norwood Parade Precinct Committee, Project Hope Australia, and Food for Thought SA, raising funds for overseas aid and supporting the Migration Museum.

His passion for education also led him to teach and mentor design and illustration students at the University of South Australia.

Michael holds an honours degree from the University of South Australia and was recognised with a Golden Key award for his exceptional and consistent contributions. Additionally, he earned visual communications degrees in graphic design and illustration design, further enriching his expertise in the field.

Michael is the parent of a current student and an old scholar from the College.
