Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter Intercol Update Article information Time 22 Aug 2024 The intercollegiate competition between Saint Ignatius’ College and Mercedes College, our “Intercol” is an annual highlight on the College calendar. Each year our entire community, and most especially the students, look forward with great anticipation to this culminating event of the winter co-curricular season. Whilst the rivalry is strong between our two schools, it is the shared values, mutual respect and long-standing camaraderie of healthy competition that has shaped an Intercol in which our students consistently demonstrate excellence in performance and excellence in character, whilst finding such joy in the opportunities to compete and spectate. Intercol 2024 is proving to be no exception with some outstanding displays of sporting and cognitive prowess in the events that have taken place already this week. There have been wins and losses, some in exceptionally close and hard-fought conditions, but more importantly, through all of it, our students have shown, individually and collectively, their amazing skill and sportsmanship. In addition to the values, respect and positive culture of our competing teams, we have experienced the unity, passion and enthusiasm of our community who have been coming out in droves to support one another. We look forward to the excitement of the events to come: Football at Norwood Oval tonight, with the remaining Soccer and Basketball matches to round out a fabulous week tomorrow. We have been incredibly proud of our Ignatian students, teams and spirit on display this week. Congratulations to all students, staff, coaches, parents and our broader Ignatian community for all your support during this wonderful competition. Lauren Brooks, PrincipalFr Peter Hosking SJ, RectorJess Morrish, Head of Co-Curricular OREMUS (Let us pray) We remember all in our College community. May our prayers comfort those suffering at this time. May God’s blessing be a source of support in their sorrow and loss, and bring courage, patience, and hope. For those who have died: Fr Gerry O'Collins SJ “Ask and you shall receive … knock and the door will be opened unto you.” (Matt 7:7) If you would like someone to be remembered by the College community in prayer (even anonymously), please provide details to the Rector, class or Mentor Teacher, or House Leader.
