Last weekend, elite athletes from across the nation converged on the Gold Coast for the prestigious Federation of International Sport Aerobics and Fitness (FISAF) Championships. Known as the pinnacle of Aerobics competition in Australia, the event saw high-intensity battles as teams vied for top honours in various age divisions. Only the most elite athletes, having secured their spots at the State Level, earned the privilege to compete on this national stage.

This year, Saint Ignatius' College made an impressive showing, with a record number of teams qualifying for the Nationals after outstanding performances at the State Level Championships. Representing the College with distinction, these elite Ignatian athletes proved their tenacity against the best in the country.

After a rigorous competition adjudicated by a panel of five expert judges, our Junior Girls ('Iggies Pink') achieved a remarkable feat, securing a Bronze Medal as the only South Australian team to medal in the Junior divisions.

The Senior Girls delivered an extraordinary performance, claiming the Gold Medal in the Year 7-12 Division with their team 'Radiance’. Ignatius also took home a Bronze Medal in the Senior Division with team 'Fever,' cementing their status as some of the top performers in the competition.

In addition to these outstanding results, Saint Ignatius' College was honoured with the prestigious Spirit Award, standing out among almost 80 schools for their exemplary sportsmanship and high energy throughout the competition season—from the Super Series to States, and culminating in the Nationals this weekend.

More than the wins or the medals, we are immensely proud of every single Aerobics Ignatian girl who competed at the National Championships. They were so deserving of the recognition at State level, to progress to attending Nationals. It was here that they competed against the best in the country, and our Ignatius' girls truly shone. They worked together beautifully as a team, supported each other, and displayed exceptional strength and character all weekend.

We couldn’t be prouder of how they represented the College and themselves on a national level. The training involved overseen by our expert coaching staff and the dedication they have shown, is reflected in their incredible performance at this event.

Saint Ignatius' College continues to be a powerhouse in girls Aerobics, with this year’s results adding to an already impressive legacy of achievement.
