Senior School Wrap Up

Last weekend, our rowing crews participated in the annual Head of the River regatta, held at West Lakes. Our small contingent of rowers all achieved personal best times. Our rowers secured two 1st places and one 2nd place finish in B Grade races. This was arguably our best result since joining the program in 2013, with our girls coming second in the Schoolgirl First Four, competing for the Diana Medlin Cup. We also enjoyed a wonderful dinner celebration where each crew thanked their coach. We are especially grateful for the work of the Head Coach, Matthew Walker, the rowing coaches, and dedicated parents.

At this week’s Senior School Assembly, Father Hosking reminded us of the Christ story where Jesus sacrificed himself to atone for the failures of humanity. This act of sacrifice demonstrates God's love for the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not pass away but have eternal life." During the Easter season, we reflect on Jesus' crucifixion as the Lamb of God, but we also anticipate his role as the Lamb of God in heaven. This symbolizes hope and redemption for believers. This is something we look forward to as we approach Easter in the coming week.

Congratulations to the athletics team of Ignatius athletes who represented the College on Tuesday at the Catholic Co-Ed Athletics Carnival at Athletics SA Stadium. The team competed in A grade and finished in second place, with the U20 team winning the shield for first place. We are grateful to Ms Miriam Doyle, Miss Serena Slade, Old Ignatians, and staff for their dedicated work to make this an enjoyable event for all.

This week the Music students have been participating in the Senior School Music Base Camp. Each of the four days had a specific focus for each ensemble type, and this year we have been fortunate to welcome Lauren Henderson from the University of Adelaide to work with our choirs. Lachlan Bramble from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra also worked with the String Ensembles, and Vashti Tyrell from Jazz SA worked with our Big Bands. We are very grateful for the work of Mr Aaron Dohse, Coordinator of Co-curricular Arts & Activities, and the Music staff in organising this wonderful experience for the students.

As we approach Palm Sunday (24 March), the final Sunday in Lent and the beginning of Holy Week, we commemorate the arrival of Christ in Jerusalem and reflect on how this Lenten journey has truly shaped our hearts.
