The Junior School recently showcased its annual Year 6 Musical production, Pirates of the Curry Bean. Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended the weekend productions at the Senior School’s Flynn Theatre. It is always incredible seeing the energy and growth in confidence of the students engaged in their first musical, which always exceeds expectations. There was so much joy evident on their faces while performing, singing, and dancing on stage. It is a real gift to our community, and the staff and parents were amazed at the capability of the children.

An Ignatian education advocates for the holistic development of the child. And in a very Ignatian way, it was not just their performance that was most memorable, but the unifying camaraderie and care the students displayed for each other that shone through this experience. They have supported each other, giving confidence to each person in their role as they needed. The Year 6s will leave the Junior School with such a powerful experience of community.

In celebration of All Saints and All Souls Day Mass on Monday, we were reminded of Fr Peter Hosking’s words that “Saints are ordinary people. Presumably, they have doubts and make mistakes as we all do, but somehow have the strength to rise above the world and allow God’s spirit to work through them in loving service.”

Our students are urged to not limit oneself or our lived response on account of the challenge being too great or the journey too difficult. We are instead encouraged to choose the right path, no matter the challenge before us. We are born in the world but not of it. These are the large-hearted aspirations we have for all our students, in knowing they have a definite role in building a more just, equitable, and loving world of which they are a part.
