This week is National Reconciliation Week and the theme for 2019 is:
Grounded in Truth
Walk Together with Courage
Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As we read through these statements, the links to the importance of accompaniment in Ignatian Spirituality are evident. For Ignatius, relationships between people, creation and God were central to his worldview. When we truly accompany someone we walk with them and truly listen to them. Then Ignatius would say that we bless and break bread together, a metaphor for all that it means to be human. Bonding and connecting with others, celebrating and being nourished.
This model of accompaniment provides the means by which people can communicate in an unthreatening and positive manner with others in regards to all aspects of life.

We pray that as a community we can live out Ignatian ideals for a unified future.
