Ignatian Formation for staff at Saint Ignatius’ College is an important part of how we continue in the Ignatian way of proceeding. Throughout their time at the College staff learn about Ignatian Spirituality, this includes Ignatius the man, his values and insights, the Ignatian approach to ministry, and the Spiritual Exercises.
Last week, thirteen members of staff from all campuses and areas of the College came together to participate in Ignis 1. This programme has been designed by the Province and is mandated for all staff working in all Jesuit ministries throughout Australia.
This experience clarifies for staff the strength of the community they are a part of, the importance of the mission, and outlines Ignatius’ vision for Ignatian schools. It enables us to have a shared vision and this is a large part of the strength of our work here at the College.
Staff who attend Ignis 1 are generally new to Saint Ignatius’ so it is always heartening to hear their feedback on the programme. They feel empowered and focussed on being a part of the mission and bring fresh eyes to the value of our ethos here at Saint Ignatius’ College.
