On Wednesday 12 August 2020 children from the four year old program and the three year olds that have been at the IEY for 6 months attended the Patch Theatre Production “Me and My Shadow”.
With all our COVID risk assessments checked off, the children set off on a bus ride into the Festival Arts Centre. At three and four years of age the bus ride is an exciting experience in itself and there was a real sense of joy and excitement.
“Me and My Shadow” cleverly uses light, shadow and colour to explore the trials and joys of friendship.
The children laughed at the fantastic imagery produced as the characters played with imaginary balls of light and with shadows of varying lengths and shapes. Emotions were expressed as the friends on stage parted and then came back together. The whimsical music added to the sense of fun and enjoyment.
The performance was a short 45 minutes and very soon we were back on the bus heading home to the IEY.
