2019 Term 1 Week 4

2019 Term 1 Week 4

From the Principal

During the past few weeks, a number of the College’s key groups have had their first meeting and/or activity for the year. For example, on Sunday our Parents and Friends hosted a picnic event at the Junior School to welcome new families to our community. This followed their first committee meeting at the start of February. This week our College Foundation, which supports our future development through fundraising for building and bursary initiatives, had its first meeting, and next week the Fidelis Association for past parents of the College will meet. Finally, our College Board had its first meeting for the year on Tuesday night.

Following the College’s new governance arrangements established last year, our Board is responsible for strategic direction and oversight of the Jesuit identity, educational programs, and financial management of the College. Two sub-committees, the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and the Building Committee, support the Board in its responsibilities. The Chair and Directors of our Board are appointed for their term by Jesuit Education Australia (JEA).

Our current Board comprises:

Professor Suzanne Le Mire (Chair)
Mr Ted De Poi (Deputy Chair)
Mrs Diane Campbell
Fr Michael Head SJ
Fr Gerard Healy SJ
Mr Jay Hogan
Mr Paul Tanti
Mr Brendan Devine

Officers of the Board
Fr Thomas Renshaw SJ (Chair, Jesuit Education Australia)
Mrs Samantha Trenerry (Company Secretary and Public Officer)
Mr Peter Coffey (Principal)
Fr Peter Hosking SJ (Rector)

At Saint Ignatius, we are fortunate to have many talented and large-hearted people who are willing to give of themselves to support the work of the College. We are all the beneficiaries of their work, and I am deeply grateful for all that they do.

Deo Gloria

Mr Peter Coffey
