2020 Term 1 Week 7

2020 Term 1 Week 7

From the Parents and Friends

Dear Parents & Caregivers

House Athletics Carnival last week at the Senior School was a great event. I’d like to thank all those who volunteered their time and those who donated the many wonderful baked goods for the day. Without all your help and contributions we would never be able to achieve what we do.
We managed to raise over $1,700 for the Junior School sports department which is a great effort and again I thank all those involved, especially Lydia Williams for organising the bake stall and vans for the day.

There are still a couple of platters which remain uncollected, if you recognise any of these you can pick them up from the Junior School:

I would also like to thank all the Parent Reps who are busy putting ideas together for social events for their year levels. The work they do is greatly appreciated as they act as the conduit between the Parents and Friends Committee and all parents. I’ve seen first hand all the volunteer planning and work they’ve been doing. If you’d like to join and become a parent rep, there’s still time. All you have to do is contact Simone Hansch-Maher (Parent Rep Coordinator – Senior School - simonehanschmaher@gmail.com) or Grace Eliseo (Parent Rep Coordinator – Junior School - graceeliseo@hotmail.com).

We have some very exciting events coming up. Tickets for these will be on sale very soon:
The Mother’s Day Long Lunch is being held on Friday 8 May 2020 at the Junior School.
The Gala Ball this year will be on Saturday 15 August at the Convention Centre.

Thank you

Meet the Committee of 2020

Committee Member Name: Simone Hansch-Maher

Role: Senior School Class Rep Coordinator

Child/Children: Bede Year 7, Ira Year 9 and Silas Year 12

About Simone:

While Simone is very new to the P&F, she has been part of the Ignatian community for many years having attended the Senior School in Year 11 and 12 in the mid 80s. Her parents were also involved in the community attending mass at the new and old chapels and her father coached the senior boys footy team for a few years. Her boys were baptised in the chapels at the Senior School. After living in Darwin for 12 years Simone and Pat returned to Adelaide and reconnected with the community when Silas commenced in Reception. So, despite being new to the P&F Simone is no stranger to the Ignatian community.

Simone brings with her boundless enthusiasm, commitment and a strong desire to contribute to the wonderful Ignatian community. She is eager to share with other families the same sense of welcoming and belonging she has been shown over the years. She sees her membership of the P&F as a wonderful opportunity to serve and to foster and share the strong sense of community.

Simone is looking forward to the Family Fun Fair on 28 March where she and her husband Pat and Christine and Pat Toffoli will be convening the Wolf Pack Coffee and Tea stall. It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet up and chat with many members of the college family – it would be great if you purchased a coffee and scone too!!!!

While Simone loves her day job as a lawyer, she enjoys the opportunity to use her creative and strategic skills in a different context contributing to the P&F.  She is thrilled to be the Senior School Class Rep Coordinator and has been grateful to be working with them. The class reps are an integral part of the Ignatian community because they help connect families on a regular basis. They are very generous with their time and commitment and she would like to encourage all families to attend at the various events they organise.

Simone has really enjoyed her short time on the P&F and feels grateful and blessed to be working with such an amazing, diverse and committed group of parents who have made the experience all the more enjoyable by their warm welcome.
