From the Head of Junior School
In celebrating All Saints Day Mass, our Rector, Fr Peter Hosking SJ, asked the children if they knew the names of any saints. "Saint Joseph, Saint Ignatius, Saint Mary" were offered in reply to Father's question, but the answer that brought most delight to all was offered from a child in Reception, "How about Saint Father Peter Hosking SJ?"
Offering a perfect tie into the homily, Father Peter SJ reminded us that we are all able to become living saints; we just need to allow ourselves the courage and grace to listen to God's call. Pope Francis tweeted this week that “Jesus loved us freely. Christian life is imitating Jesus' free love.” Outgoing Captain for the Class of 2018 Daniel Belperio had put it so well in communicating this in our strive for the Magis. Not letting perfectionism get in the way of the good, we can all strive to be that better version of ourselves each new day. Cardinal John Henry Newman, wrote that “To be good means to change and to be perfect means to change often.”
Congratulations to all those who participated in this week’s swimming carnival. The competitive races followed by the novelty events were greatly enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to see the way in which all engaged in the day with such great House spirit. Photos below.
