2020 Term 3 Week 5

2020 Term 3 Week 5

From the Head of Senior School

There has been excitement at the senior campus this week as over 100 students signed up to participate in the annual handball tournament. This knockout competition, organised by our Senior Leaders, helps bring our community together at the midway point of Term 3.

Our students studying Stage 2 Music performed for their chosen pieces as part of their external examination at the SACE Performance Evening held on Wednesday night, to an invited audience in the foyer of the theatre.

It was encouraging to have so many parents at the recent Year 9 to 10 Subject Information Evening on Thursday, and our parent surveys indicate that our capacity to live-stream events to families at home was well received. This helps us consider how combinations of face-to-face and online presentations may work going forward. The curriculum team will continue to guide our students through these next stages of their journey.

We will celebrate an indigenous round in our sporting matches, beginning with the Open A Basketball and First XVIII AFL boys matches this Saturday, and continuing with the various sporting games throughout next week. Open A teams will play in the new indigenous guernsey designed by Anton Fallo (8.1) and Kaurna elder Uncle Neville. They worked with students who had been a part of Jarrumwani Immersions of the Heart as well as staff including Ms Doyle, Ms Minucci, Mr Toome, Father Hosking, Mr Panos, and Mrs Moore. The College is exploring options to afford students in these Open A teams the opportunity (if they wish) to purchase a personalised top through the Uniform Shop. The indigenous round helps us to celebrate and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and experiences. A more detailed account of the design can be found in the following document:
