2019 Term 4 Week 8

2019 Term 4 Week 8

From the Head of Senior School

This is the first week in our liturgical year. The Advent season is a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. This continual coming of Jesus, as for the first time, inspires us as we say goodbye to students at the end of term, to have great hope for them in the year that awaits. The end of a year is a great opportunity to celebrate all that has been achieved, and to look forward to the new and exciting opportunities ahead!

This week has been filled with many activities: the Kairos retreat, the immersions to Cambodia and Vietnam, and India, the Middle Years Christmas Concert, the VEX Robotics National Championships, the Year 12 2020 Seminar Days, and our dismissal blessings. I constantly reflect on our unique Ignatian spirituality and how this is expressed in the mission of our everyday work at the Senior School. I would like to acknowledge the dedicated work of our teachers and support staff throughout the year. Our students have been truly blessed by the support of their mentors in 2019.

Please keep our Year 12 students in our prayers as they await their final SACE results.

My best wishes go to you and your families for a holy Christmas and joyful New Year.

Lord, in this holy season of prayer and song and laughter, we praise you for the great wonders you have sent us: for shining star and angel's song, for infant's cry in lowly manger. We praise you for the Word made flesh in a little Child. We behold his glory, and are bathed in its radiance. Be with us as we sing the ironies of Christmas, the incomprehensible comprehended, the poetry made hard fact, the helpless Babe who cracks the world asunder. We kneel before you shepherds, innkeepers, wise people. Help us to rise bigger than we are. Amen.
