From the Head of Junior School
And so it has begun. With such expediency due to uncertain times, the College has launched its online learning provision after a great deal of preparation, planning, and training. Akin to the Wright brothers launching their first airplanes, there is a certain moment of drawing breath and taking in this new experience of schooling as it unfolds. For the uninitiated in flight, it is perhaps surprising that planes take off into the wind, as the fast air bearing down on the plane generates an upward force on the wings, which helps lift the aircraft.
There is no doubt that this is a challenging time for all. Joseph Campbell prophetically wrote: “We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” Whether working from home, trying to support your children’s online learning, or facing changes of financial standing, please know that we are here with you. If there are ways we can support you, please reach out and get in touch.
In these searching times, when everything seems to be going against you, Henry Ford asks us to remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it!
Thank you, parents, for all your continued messages of support while adjusting to new ways of proceeding. On behalf of the staff, I wish you every happiness and safety as you move into the term holidays, and we look forward to our continued partnership in whatever may come of the term ahead.
