From the Head of Junior School
The new school year has begun with much excitement as refreshed students are enjoying surveying pastures new. Welcomed with class teachers, new class groupings, and new families joining our community, students are quickly rekindling and making new friendship bonds.
A new year brings opportunity and anticipation of the year ahead. In our opening mass for the year, the children were asked who went swimming over the summer. In looking at the number of raised hands, it is clear we are a nation of swimmers. Fr Kieran Gill explained that in swimming, we focus on mindful breathing in order to oxygenate our bodies. In the same way, we invite the Holy Spirit to breathe new life in us as we walk our path this year.
The Student Representative Council (SRC) elect for 2020 will be commissioned on Monday 10 February in the Church of St Ignatius at 8.45am. We tend to have a number of parents who join us each week at St Ignatius Parish Church for our liturgies, and I wish to extend an open invitation for you to join us at any time you can make it throughout the year.
With the exception of Year 2, our parent information evenings have been arranged for next week. Please refer to timings below. We hope this will be a practical opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, at which time the College will be able to outline some of the opportunities and expectations for your children in 2020. We look forward to seeing you there.
