2020 Term 1 Week 3

2020 Term 1 Week 3

After School Homework Assistance

The start of the school year has proven to be a smooth transition, with staff and students returning from holidays with plenty of renewed energy. To date, students have approached their studies positively, and subject changes have now all been finalised. I remind parents/guardians to take the opportunity, when necessary, to contact subject teachers to discuss the academic progress of their son or daughter and not wait for the term report. Our experience in this area shows that early contact and communication can produce better and easier outcomes. If a matter relates to more than one subject, our Prefects of Studies, Mr Wentzel (Middle Years) and Mr Dodson (Senior Years), are the best staff to contact.

After-school homework assistance

To assist students with their studies, the College offers after-school homework support in the form of Homework Club and After-School Old Scholars Tutoring.

Homework Club for Senior Years students runs every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3.45pm to 4.45pm in CA203. Ms Macklin (general support), Mr Fazzini (Mathematics), Mr Borgo (English) and Mr Papanicolas (Chemistry) provide assistance in the subject areas indicated. Middle Years Homework Club is conducted in the Campion Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.

Starting Week 4 (Monday 17 February) we will have a number of recent Old Ignatian tutors engaged in assisting our students with homework in the Campion Library, from Monday to Thursday afternoons from 3.50pm to 4.50pm. If your son or daughter could benefit from working with an Old Ignatian with their homework, completing assignments, or later in the year with examination revision, please consider the free service on offer. Our Old Ignatians are very keen to help and support students with their studies.

Please feel free to contact me at the College if you would like any additional details relating to the information provided above.

I wish your child/children every happiness and success with their studies this year, and if I can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to send me an email (p.rossi@ignatius.sa.edu.au).

Best wishes
