Term 1 & 2 Events
2020 is another busy year for Co-curricular Music at the Senior School. Late last year a calendar of events was placed in the Ignatian. As a reminder, and for families new to the college, the following is some information on the events coming up for Term 1 and the start of Term 2.
Family Fun Fair – The College Fair will be held on Saturday 28 March at the Senior School. The Senior School ensembles performing for the Fair will be Ignatius String Orchestra, Bellarmine Stage Band, Senior Stage Band, Concert Choir, Bellarmine Concert Band and Senior Concert Band. Performances will begin around 1pm. More information, including a timetable of performance, will follow in the coming weeks.
Music Camp – This year Music Camp will run from Sunday the 29 March until Tuesday 31 March. Music Camp has undergone some changes from those of the past and students, particularly those who have attended many in the past, will notice significant differences in the way that Music Camp runs. The first of these changes is that Music Camp will be held at the Woodhouse Activity Centre in Woodside. Along with this all students will be traveling by bus from the Senior School to Woodhouse on the Sunday afternoon and will be returning to the Senior School by bus on the Tuesday afternoon. Much more detail regarding camp, including the cost to families, will be available via EdSmart in the next couple of weeks.
Generations in Jazz – Families of students involved in Generations in Jazz should have received their initial information regarding the festival by now. If you believe you should have received this information and you have not, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. Families should make sure that their children have a college spray jacket in preparation for the event. Tickets for parents, families and friends for Generations in Jazz go on sale on 3 March. Anyone wishing to come along and support our ensembles should purchase their tickets directly through the GiJ website, https://generationsinjazz.com.au/ Families should also be aware of booking their own accommodation for the event. We are waiting on final costing from Generations in Jazz. Once we have received this information will be sent to families including costing and all details for the weekend.
Friends of Music – Last year we set-up a committee of interested parents to assist with the running of concerts and events for the Music Department. This group was very successful, and I would like to thank those that were involved last year. This group will operate again this year and our first meeting will be held on Wednesday 18 March (Week 8) at the Senior School. Parents of students involved in Co-curricular Music who would like to join this committee should email me by Friday 6 March with their interest.
As always, if you have any questions, queries or concerns about Co-curricular Music please feel very free to get in touch with me via email – A.Dohse@ignatius.sa.edu.au
