Co-curricular Colours and Stripes

Congratulations to those students who have been awarded Co-curricular Colours or Stripes for 2018. The awarding of these colours is recognised through the following embroidery on students’ blazers:

  • Captain/Vice-Captain or Full Colours: gold embroidery on the top blazer pocket.
  • Half Colours: red embroidery for boys and blue embroidery for girls on the top blazer pocket.
  • Stripes: red ribbon for boys and blue ribbon for girls on the bottom blazer pocket, opposite side to the top pocket.
  • JACSA/Jesuit Carnival Stripe: gold ribbon on the bottom blazer pocket, opposite side to the top pocket.

Students who received Full Co-curricular colours are also recognised in the Speech Day booklet.

Please note that from 2019, there will be an adjustment to the criteria for the awarding of Co-curricular colours. Students will also be informed of this at the beginning of next year and this information is contained in the 2019 Parent Handbook. From 2019, co-curricular colours will be awarded according to the following:

Stripes: A student who has participated in the highest team/group that the College has in a particular sport or arts and activity (normally Open A/Firsts equivalent but could be Open B if no Open A team exists) for two consecutive years can be nominated for Stripes. Some sports and arts and activities have specific conditions related to either attendance, minimum number awarded per group or years of participation. These co-curricular activities are identified in the handbook.

Half Colours: A student who satisfies the Stripes criteria and who has shown outstanding team leadership and/or talent that has significantly enhanced the team’s performance and who has satisfied one of the criteria below can be nominated for Half Colours:

  • Has won a College MVP, Loyola or Perpetual Award in either of the two consecutive years.
  • Has been awarded captaincy or vice-captaincy in either of the two consecutive years.

Full Colours: A student who satisfies the Stripes criteria and who has shown outstanding team leadership and/or talent that has significantly enhanced the team’s performance and who has twice satisfied either of the criteria below, can be nominated for Full Colours:

  • Has won a College MVP, Loyola or other Perpetual Award.
  • Has been awarded captaincy or vice-captaincy.

For example, a student who participates in an Open A team for 2 years receives Loyola Award in the first year and MVP in the second year would receive Full Colours. Similarly, a student who participates in an Open A team for 2 years and is awarded captaincy and receives a perpetual trophy in the second year would receive Full Colours.
