2020 Term 2 Week 1

2020 Term 2 Week 1
From the Principal
On a few occasions during the past week or so, I have found myself discussing with others the suggestion that Australians may be gaining an even greater appreciation of the term ‘Lucky Country’. This may be even more so for us here in South Australia when we compare our experience of COVID-19 with that in other places in the world. When we look at the figures – fewer than 100 deaths... read more
From the Rector
It is hoped that these are the only Easter holidays that we spend isolated with the threat of COVID-19. Thanks to our sensible response to protect the common good of all in our state − through the practice of good hygiene, physical distancing, self-isolation, and taking care if unwell − our infection rates have been contained. We are hopeful of a smooth transition back to face-to-face learning.... read more
Ignatian Ethos
We have all just seen our way through an unusual ‘holiday’. It is difficult keeping our distance from each other, especially those we love, but I am grateful for the position South Australia is in with regards to the virus. On Monday, our first day back, staff began the day in small groups reflecting on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius and were then led through an examen. Fr Rob Morris... read more
From the Head of Senior School
I join with staff at the Senior School to welcome you all to Term 2. Staff from all three campuses came together on Monday for our Formation Day. We were blessed with the opportunity to deepen our understanding of our Ignatian spirituality, albeit in small groups, and virtually with the use of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and video recordings. Fr Rob Morris SJ, Director of the Centre of Ignatian Spirituality... read more

SPECIAL REPORT: Wellbeing - Checklist for Secondary Students The global pandemic is having a profound impact on our adolescents with many being forced to miss out on so many rites of passage. Some are becoming more anxious or depressed which is completely understandable given the current situation. However, should your teen display any unusual behaviour that lasts for more than 2-3 weeks, it may be... read more

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has meant that we have had to cancel many of the features of our Careers Program at the College, including our annual Careers Market and the June Work Experience Program. However, this does not mean the students cannot continue to explore their career goals. In fact, it’s extremely important to do so - as a large factor (in fact the most important aspect one may argue)... read more
Senior School Tuckshop News
Due to current COVID-19 precautions, we have introduced an online recess menu. It will appear in the Flexischools sheet as RECESS OPTIONS 2020. A list of available options is below the icon (it is not the complete list of normal available recess items, but it covers the most popular ones). Students may order prior to 9:30am each day, with collection from the Tuckshop at recess time using all... read more
From the Head of Junior School
As we come out of Easter holidays and some sense of isolation, there has been a real joy in welcoming students back into school this week. There have been many happy faces of children reconnecting with friends and their teachers while our online teaching has continued for those students at school and at home. Next week presents another milestone, a welcome return to familiar routines of regular classes... read more

SPECIAL REPORT: Wellbeing - Checklist for Primary Students Whilst most children are resilient and seem to be demonstrating a remarkable capacity to manage during this challenging time, others are not faring as well. Some are experiencing a variety of emotions ranging from fear to anxiety, all of which are considered normal or natural responses to this current situation. However despite this, it is still... read more
