2019 Term 2 Week 8

2019 Term 2 Week 8
From the Principal
On the weekend, a dozen or so staff from the Senior School travelled to Melbourne for the ordination of Kieran Gill. Father Gill SJ, as he is now, is well known to many of us since he spent over two years with us as a novice from January 2014 to July 2016. Since then he has been studying at Boston College in the USA, in preparation for his priestly ministry. Andy Nguyen was also ordained at the same... read more
From the Rector
This week we have had a number of activities to remind us of the plight of forcibly displaced peoples in the world. I have been privileged to spend some of my life in refugee camps. This need will ensure that we not only prepare our students for their future working... read more

One of these is the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) and as this week is Refugee Week it is timely to share information about their mission. The JRS was founded in 1980 by Fr Pedro Arrupe SJ, largely in response to the humanitarian concerns of those fleeing Cambodia and Vietnam.... read more

At Saint Ignatius, many parents comment that we are gifted with a strong sense of community that feels like family. This week we were blessed to acknowledge and celebrate our broader Ignatian family on our Grandparents and Special Friends Day. In welcoming over 600 guests before school on a cool morning, we were warmed with cups of tea and coffee and the presence of so many family members who were able... read more
