2018 Term 4 Week 8

2018 Term 4 Week 8
From the Principal
As the school year for 2018 draws to a close, I offer my thanks to all in our community who have contributed to the successful year that we have had. It has been suggested that Ignatius referred to ingratitude as the greatest of sins, especially in the context of not appreciating all that God has given us. We are indeed a richly blessed community, and with this comes an obligation to use our gifts and... read more
From the Rector
As we come to the last days of Term Four, we thank our students, staff, and families for all they have brought to the College this year. We have had a blessed year. There have been moments of great consolations amidst the various challenges and demands. As we finish a year, we should take a little time to thank God for the opportunities of this year: for the teaching and learning that have taken place... read more
Ignatian Ethos
Backroads, a series on the ABC often has very heartfelt stories but this week it was an Ignatian story ‘of sorts’. The episode was about a man, Fari, who immigrated to Australia from Iran many years ago. He was an aircraft engineer but decided he wanted to live in the country. He now lives in the Atherton Tablelands and has driven his trusty truck “Betsy” delivering fresh food... read more
From the Head of Senior School
I take this opportunity to thank you all for a wonderful year. As my first year at Saint Ignatius’ College ends, I am very grateful for all the support and guidance that I have received from the entire community. I recognise that as I continue to deepen my understanding of our unique Ignatian spirituality, it is important to constantly reflect on how this is expressed in the mission of our everyday... read more

Bushfire Management Policy
The extreme heat at the end of the school year reminds us all of the inherent risks associated with summer in Australia. Related to this, the College’s new Bushfire Management Policy is now available on the College website. I thank all those involved in the review and establishment of this policy, especially Mrs Loretta Vozzo and Mrs Sally Caston. Mr Peter Coffey Principal read more
From the Head of Junior School
There is nothing quite like community carols to mark the coming of Christmas! Wednesday evening did not disappoint, with each year group presenting their own songs complete with instrumental support. The children were looking most festive while their dulcet sounds bestowed Christmas cheer for all. Christmas is coming, and so it is a time to refocus on the importance of our story: a story of hope-filled... read more

Out of School Hours Care
Dear Families Please note that bookings for Vacation Care are now closed! For those booked in, we ask that you please arrive by the advertised time for excursion days. It is important that all children are present for the safety talks given prior to leaving the College. Children arriving late puts pressure on educators to ensure correct numbers and also creates delays for the whole group. There... read more
