Homepage Enrolment Academic Achievements 2025 Gaby Elias: Governor of South Australia Commendation Gabrielle Elias has received a Governor of South Australia Commendation for Excellence in SACE. The College community warmly congratulates Gabrielle Elias on her outstanding achievements in SACE Stage 2. Since beginning her journey at Ignatius, Gabrielle (Gaby) distinguished herself as an intelligent, strong-minded, and capable young leader whose commitment to social justice reflected the Ignatian ideal of being a “person for others.” Her leadership inspired her peers to act with purpose and bring about meaningful change. Academically, Gaby demonstrated exceptional ability, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine love of learning across a broad range of disciplines. She was awarded Dux of Year 11 and received numerous subject prizes. This year, she continued that excellence, achieving Dux of Year 12 with an outstanding ATAR of 99.65, along with merits in Activating Identities & Futures, English Literary Studies, Legal Studies, Philosophy, and Religious Education (Ignatian Immersions), as well as Modern History—the latter two achieved while in Year 11. As College Captain in 2025, Gaby led with conviction. She embraced all aspects of College life—participating in Kairos, Days of Reflection, the Solidarity Sleep Out, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and engaging in Faith & Service initiatives. Her Bathurst Island Immersion in 2023 deepened her understanding of justice, reconciliation, and community. Gaby’s commitment to social justice has been a hallmark of her leadership. She coordinated numerous initiatives, including Blue Week, Reconciliation Week, International Women’s Day, and Wear It Purple Day. As Editor of the student edition of Manresa Magazine, she amplified student voices around equality and inclusion. Gaby also excelled in Debating and Public Speaking, becoming a State Finalist in the Rostrum Voice of Youth Competition in both Years 10 and 11, and receiving the Premier’s ANZAC School Spirit Prize. In Year 11, she was selected for the JACSA Debating All Australian Team. This year, her senior debating team achieved a historic College milestone—success across three major competitions in one season, including the Fr William Lockington SJ Cup, Gallivan-Campion Senior A Shield, and Lloyd-Wright Trophy. Having exemplified the Ignatian spirit, Gaby was a deserving recipient of the Ignatius Silver Medal for Sustained and Consistent Contribution to College Life, awarded at the College’s 2025 Speech Day. She also received Academic and Co-Curricular Full Colours, a subject commendation for Activating Identities and Futures, subject prizes for Legal Studies and Philosophy, and the F.P. Mullins Prize for English Literary Studies. Intending to pursue a double degree in Law and International Relations, Gaby continues to be driven by her passion for justice, diplomacy, and global engagement.
