Mission Afternoon

May 30, 2014

On Thursday 22 May, the Senior School students held their annual Mission Afternoon activity to raise money for the College’s Jesuit Missions.

The sunny afternoon commenced with an outdoor liturgy for all students and staff on the Bourke Oval. During the liturgy College Captain, Max Hamra, who journeyed to Timor Leste last year on an immersion was able to speak of his personal experiences of encountering people who live in poverty but who strive to provide a better future for their children.

After the liturgy, the fete began where all manner of food was sold. There were also a variety of games and activities being held which added to the fun and vibrant atmosphere of the event.

At the end of the day people were tired but happy and very well pleased with what they had achieved. Just under $11,000 was raised towards supporting College De Santo Inacio De Loiola in Timor Leste.

A catholic, co-educational school conducted by the Jesuits.
