Gifted Awareness Week
Many parents would have heard of the Challenge Programme at Saint Ignatius' College. My name is Kathryn Wills and I am the Challenge Programme Coordinator. My task is to oversee the many opportunities that are offered to Highly Able students at the Senior School.
This week was Gifted Awareness Week. The Association of Gifted and Talented began this initiative in 2015 to increase awareness of the needs of Highly Able students. The theme for this week was Well Being.
The Year 7 and 8 Challenge Programme students have participated in Mindset Mornings this week where they have worked on ideas researched by Carol Dweck on fixed and positive mindsets. They have also heard tips from Mrs Kathy George (one of our school-based counsellors) on ways to combat and deal with perfectionism and anxiety.
The Year 9 Challenge students have participated in a Subway lunch to hear about the aims of our Challenge Programme this year and they will be invited to a Mindset Day in the future. I have enjoyed working with these students this week and look forward to future events.
You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions about the Challenge Programme in the Senior School.
Mrs Kathryn Wills
