At the start of Week 9, the entire Year 7 cohort travelled to Woodhouse Activity Centre for their Igxperience. The College has begun a new camp program under the banner of Igxperience as it is hoped that the camp experiences give the chance for students and Mentor Teachers to build relationships, have shared experiences and grow in their understanding of themselves and their relationships.

Over the course of the three day camp, students experienced a nature walk, camp skills, challenge hill, geocaching and tube sliding. They also had the opportunity to learn about fire making and be involved in night-time activities.

The focus of the Year 7 Igxperience is belonging so there was a lot of time for students to explore new relationships whilst away. The activities were completed in Mentor Groups which allowed students genuine chances to build relationships with their Mentor Teachers. It was wonderful to see so many Year 7s challenging themselves and demonstrating resilience and determination.

Whilst being away for three days in Year 7 brings some challenge, the rewards are also plentiful. Many new friendships were started, old relationships were strengthened and students created memories of shared experiences that will last a lifetime.

We were all very grateful to Active Education who assisted us on the Igxperience by providing instructors to guide the activities. The students finished their time already anticipating more great opportunities that will be available to them in the Year 8 Igxperience in 2023.
