Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter Year 7 Art Article information Time 18 May 2022 Over Term 1, Ms Dundon’s two Year 7 Art classes explored some of the elements of Art - line, texture, tone, and shape within the context of Australian Flora. After experimenting with materials and developing technical skills, students commenced work on a collaborative, artwork which focused on colour. One student, Mika Min, drew a bunch of Australian flora which included eucalyptus, wattle, bottlebrush, proteas, gum nuts and leaves, and banksias. Students were given a 20cm x 20cm canvas and chose which part of the design they would like to paint. After painting their individual canvases, students used Posca paint pens to add detail. “As seeds of Australia we will grow together until 2027" is featured at the bottom of the work. This project highlights to students the importance of collaboration, inclusivity and diversity, and reminds them that they will continue growing and developing as Ignatians till they graduate in 2027.
