In support of the Junior School Pedro Arrupe Project, the Year 4 students recently ran a Trash and Treasure stall. All money raised was donated to Ronald McDonald House.

The Year 4’s chose this charity because it provides support for families with seriously ill children being treated at hospitals away from their own communities. Rather than spending the night in a hospital waiting room, family members can stay in comfort at a Ronald McDonald House and receive support from staff, volunteers or other families that are sharing similar experiences. Facilities include private family rooms with en-suites and common kitchens, lounges, quiet rooms and play areas. Items sold on the day included pre-loved toys, dress-ups, books, and games.

The Year 4’s raised an incredible $671 which will go some way in providing extra support for these families.

Thank you to all the families who donated items and supported our cause.

Reflective quotes from the students:

"I enjoyed helping others in need, but I also enjoyed seeing items destined for the rubbish bin being given to a new home"- Anton Della Verde

"It is a great charity as many families know someone affected by cancer" - Elijah Iona

"I enjoyed seeing happy faces on the little kids who bought something at our stall. I also hope we have put smiles on the faces of little kids at the Ronald McDonald House who are benefiting from the money we raised"- Ricardo Joya Moreno
