Recently, our Chinese language department invited three instructors from Confucius institute to explore traditional Peking Opera mask painting with our Year 3 classes to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (Also known as the Moon Festival). Students enjoyed analysing different types of Chinese paintings and sharing their knowledge from art lessons. They also discovered that traditional Chinese painting (watercolours) required different skill sets from oil painting. Our little artists have successfully impressed the instructors with their broad knowledge and excellent manners. We ended the Moon Festival celebration by making playdough moon cakes.
