On the 7th of June 2022, 9 of the senior netball girls travelled to Golden Grove Recreation Centre to compete in the first round of the state knockout tournament. The team were to play Kildare, Golden Grove and Pedare.

The first game showed some promising signs for the day ahead, taking out a dominant win over Kildare by 19 goals. The ball movement and connections down the court was seamless, displaying great flexibility playing different positions amidst the unavailability of several players due to sickness and injuries.

The second game of the day pushed the girls to play their best against a talented Golden Grove side. The consistent defensive pressure was too much for the opposition, allowing for similar ball movement up the court and impressive goal shooting percentage, resulting in a commanding 13 goal victory.

After a well-deserved break, the girls prepared for the final game against Pedare. Despite the fatigue and soreness, the girls played a high-quality brand of netball, coming away with a comprehensive 24 goal victory. The three victories mean the team will progress to the next stage of knockout netball, occurring in Term 3.

On behalf of the squad, we would like to thank Ms Besanko, Ms Doyle, Ms Slade and Mr Panos for their incredible support throughout the day and the time and energy invested into the netball program. It is an honour to be one of the first teams to participate in knockout and represent the college.
