In this week’s instalment of our ‘meet the cast and crew’ series, we have a few characters you may not have heard of before – our “normal people” Lucas, Alice, and Mal Beineke, played by Ewan McClure, Alessia Ricciardelli, and Lucy Hay. Read on to find out more! Lucas Beineke – Ewan McClure 1. Who is Lucas?Lucas is Wednesday's fiancé, who's making her question everything about herself. 2. What about the character of Lucas do you like?Lucas is resilient, witty, charming, and embraces all the Addams’ quirkiness with love and understanding. His love for Wednesday is strong. 3. What is your favourite part of the musical? The end of the first act is chaotic, it's amazing. 4. What are you looking forward for the audience to see?A certain scene including a crossbow. 5. What’s your favourite line in the show?"I can be impulsive; I just have to think about things first!" Alice Beineke – Alessia Ricciardelli 1. Who is Alice? On the surface, Alice Beineke is a loving wife and mother with a seemingly bright and bubbly character. She often conceals how she is truly feeling, speaking in rhyme whenever she feels uncomfortable or overjoyed. After meeting the wacky Addams’s family, Alice discovers who she truly is and reconnects with herself. 2. What about the character of Alice do you like?I love Alice’s journey throughout the show, she is such an emotionally complex character and is so different to the other roles I have played in the past. Alice’s solo, ‘Waiting’, is so emotional and powerful, and it is so fun to perform. 3. What is your favourite part of the musical? It is so difficult to choose a favourite part of the musical, but I really enjoy performing the song ‘Full Disclosure’, as it is one of the few times that all characters are on stage at the same time. 4. What are you looking forward for the audience to see?I am looking forward for the audience to see the amazing talents of our drama class. I am so proud of our drama family and the wonderful show we have put together. 5. What’s your favourite line in the show?“Why not show the world the love in which we all believe, why not wear your heart for all to see, right on your sleeve.” Mal Beineke – Lucy Hay 1. Who is Mal?Mal Beineke is a typical, suburban, footy dad. He's the father of Lucas and husband to Alice. He's described as stuffy, conservative, hard-working and boring, which does not fit in with the quirky Addams family one bit. Mal cares immensely for his family and their well-being, even if he is going about showing it in all the wrong ways. Deep down though he may be more like the Addams then he'd like to think. 2. What about the character of Mal do you like?To be honest, he's a pretty easy character to dislike, but because of this he's an interesting character to personally play. What I also like about Mal is how protective he is of his family. Whether what he's doing is right or wrong, he always does it with his family in mind. 3. What is your favourite part of the musical? My favourite part of the musical is any of the scenes that the whole cast is on stage together. It's so much fun to perform with my friends and to see how talented everyone is. The energy we create on stage all together is something that I know will give the audience an engaging and fun show. 4. What are you looking forward for the audience to see?I am looking forward to the audience seeing the amazing and technical set that our show has. The set design surprises me every day and includes a lot of elements that I have never seen before on stage. I'm also looking forward to the audience hearing Pugsley Addams ear-piercing screams. 5. What’s your favourite line in the show?Wednesday: "Pugsley, could you just go away and die?"Pugsley: "I will if your boyfriend will".
