Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter State Athletics Championships Article information Time 28 Mar 2023 Saint Ignatius’ College would like to highlight and congratulate Year 4 student Sam Turner for his exemplary display of athleticism at the State Athletics Championships at the SA Athletics Stadium over the weekend. Sam qualified fastest for the 200m event and claimed the Silver medal in the final. He also received a Bronze medal for his superb performance in the Long Jump. This is in addition to the Silver medal Sam was awarded for his efforts in a recent State Pentathlon event. Saint Ignatius’ College are incredibly proud of your achievements and outstanding consistency in Athletics, Sam. Well done! Rocco CaninoCo-Curricular ESO The end of the Little Athletics season is in sight and the Individual State Championships allowed the best athletes from around the state compete head to head on the weekend. Ignatius athletes showed that a season of hard training is worth it as they came away with a number of personal best performances and some medals from the Championships. Lola Whiteman won the silver medal in her age group triple jump with a personal best jump of 9.15m. Lola then went on to compete in the 200m and the hurdles where she again set personal best performances. Aislynn Lobo showed her versatility competing in the 800m, 400m, 200m, javelin and triple jump. Isabelle Cherry came home with 3 medals – bronze in the hurdles, gold in the shot put (personal best of 10.11m), gold in the discus and she competed in the triple jump and the high jump. Lily Whiteman has a stellar competition, winning gold in the triple jump (11.07m) the hurdles (13.33sec) and the long jump (4.99m). Congratulations to all the Ignatius athletes.
