Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter SAPSASA Team Mountain Bike Challenge Article information Time 23 May 2023 Saint Ignatius’ were proud to have their first team competing in the SA Sport State Mountain Bike Championships with Harrison Mullins, Eli Anderson and Thomas Mazur competing in the year 5/6 age group. The event which has been held for 25 years at Craigburn Farm had 1000 students competing across a two day event from Year 5 to Year 12. The year 5/6 event consisted of a 3km loop which had uphill & downhill, berms and jumps and was relay style where riders competed non-stop for 2 hours, to do as many laps as they could as a team. It was a tough event with quite a few spills especially on the downhill section and the last leg was 800m straight up hill to the change over zone. The uphill leg was tough with many riders having to walk however our team didn’t give up and rode every inch of the track which is a big reason our team achieved an outstanding result coming in 10th overall out of the 70 teams competing. A big congratulations to Harrison, Eli and Thomas on representing Saint Ignatius’ and a wonderful result.
