Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter SACE Art and Design Exhibition Article information Time 13 Nov 2023 On Friday November 10, 2023, the Year 12 Art and Design Exhibition was staged in the Flynn Theatre Foyer. Despite the incredibly warm weather there was a great turn out of staff, students, families and friends. The noise level and tight groupings of people surrounding the works was testament to the excitement and high standard of the show. People were spontaneously drawn to the works due to their diversity, scale, subject matter and sheer ingenuity. The range of talent on show demonstrated the wealth of knowledge our students have in areas of painting, drawing, photography, printing, computer design and model building. Father Peter Hosking, our College Rector officially opened the show. In Father’s speech he mentioned how flexible the students were in their ability to work in non-specialist spaces. This led to a presentation about the much-anticipated Art, Design and Engineering building which has been named in honour of Jesuit artist, Andrea Pozzo. Pozzo’s (1642-1709) groundbreaking and still highly relevant study into perspective and foreshortening is staggering, considering how long ago his theories were formulated. Our exhibiting students worked with rigour, insight and creativity to produce work that is both expressive and finely crafted. They displayed their ability to manage complex tasks while formulating ways to communicate their ideas and follow design briefs. Thanks were expressed to all those involved in making the evening so memorable.
