Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter Once Upon a… Festival Article information Time 9 Nov 2023 On Thursday November 2nd a group of Year 7 English Extension students visited Immanuel College for the Once Upon a…Festival. The students were treated to sessions from prominent Australian authors and poets who write predominantly for teenagers. They listened to presentations about how novels are written and published and participated in workshops about poetry and story writing. The students were encouraged to try their hand at the different ideas presented in these interactive workshops. They also listened to talks on various topics from published authors. The festival provided the students with a unique opportunity to hear authors share their journeys on the road to having their work published and beyond, providing them with insights that may be useful should they wish to follow this path themselves in the future. The excursion was also a lot of fun and we returned with many ideas, also bringing back with us some interesting novels and poetry anthologies to share! Thanks to Mrs Sarah Colaiacovo who accompanied me on this excursion with the students.
