Over the Term 1 holiday, some of the College’s netballers represented South Australia in National Netball Tournaments.

Will O’Callaghan, Reid O’Callaghan and Tim Wilson were all members of the Men’s U17 State Team. They played superbly during the minor rounds, beating every state except Victoria. They reached the Grand Final and played Victoria again, finishing runners up for the tournament. This is the first time that the South Australian team has made the finals in the National Tournament since 1999.

Old Scholar, Alec Davis, also represented South Australia in the Men’s U23 State Team. Their team made the semi-final. It was wonderful having an Old Scholar looking out for our younger Ignatians during the tournament.

Amelia Olech also represented South Australia in the U17 competition in Tasmania. Unfortunately, she was unlucky to become a close contact of her room-mate who contracted COVID during the tournament, so she was only able to play for one day of the competition. Amazingly, she impressed selectors enough to have now been named as one of the 36 players in the Australian 17/U Netball Squad. Players were selected based on a range of attributes, including demonstrated skill and the potential for performance growth. This is an incredible achievement and we wish Amelia all the best as she participates in this program.
