Music Camps 2022

On Thursday 5 and Friday 6 May all Junior School Co-curricular Music students participated in an on-campus Music Camp. They rehearsed in sectional and ensemble groups, in addition to large combined rehearsals. On Thursday afternoon our students worked with our guest artists Tania Savelli and Deborah Brennan to learn new vocal techniques. The Junior School Music Camp concluded with a sharing session where each group played a piece that they had learnt or refined on camp.

Traditionally, members of Senior School Co-curricular Music Ensembles have had the privilege of spending a few days away from the College in a rehearsal camp. Unfortunately this hasn’t been possible since 2019. Being able to spend focused time on new repertoire and spending time with other ensemble members is something that conductors find hugely beneficial for setting up the year. So this year it was decided that Senior School Music Camp would take the form of extended rehearsals using our dedicated facilities.

Members of Concert Choir, Arrupe Vocal Ensemble, Senior Vocal Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Bellarmine String Ensemble, Bellarmine Chamber Players, Senior Chamber Players, Ignatius Orchestra, Bellarmine Concert Band, Senior Concert Band, Bellarmine Stage Band and Senior Stage Band began working through new and established repertoire as we prepare for the concerts ahead in 2022.

We are grateful for the work of all of our students involved in these extended rehearsals and to our conductors Mr Millar, Ms Davey, Mrs Coxhill, Mr Dohse, Mr Brook and Ms O’Brien also to Mr Chirnside, Mrs Allen, Dr Eakin and Mr Grunwald for their assistance throughout the week.

A significant focus for Music Camp on both campuses this year is preparation for our Festival of Arts Concert. This concert is a significant event in the college calendar, and we are very much looking forward to bringing this concert to our community.

The concert will be held at the Influencers Church in Paradise on Thursday 16 June. Further information about tickets and specific concert details will be available in a few weeks. The concert will feature combined ensembles from the Senior and Junior School as well as some individual items from specific ensembles and featured soloists.
