Throughout September, the Ignatian Service and Hospitality class participated in the Meals from the Heart program at Ronald McDonald House. They planned, prepared and served dinner on three evenings for the seriously ill children and their families staying at the house. In the weeks leading up to the dinner, they trialled a range of recipes and provided each other with feedback. On the afternoon of each group’s dinner, they travelled to Ronald McDonald House on Melbourne Street, where they met with the program coordinator, learnt about the facility and heard about the challenges faced by the guests they would be cooking for. Their ‘homestyle’ dishes, delicious desserts and board game competitions were thoroughly enjoyed by the families.
