State Little Athletics Individual Championships & Australian Track and Field Championships

Over the weekend, there were two major Athletics Championships that signalled the end of the 2021/2022 Track and Field season. At Mile End, Tehan Arachchi Appuhamilage Don and Isabelle Cherry competed in the Little Athletics Individual State Championships. Tehan finished the season well, jumping 5.05m in the Long Jump and taking home the bronze medal. Isabelle Cherry managed to work through injury to record some impressive results. She placed third in the High Jump and Javelin, sixth in the hurdles and first in the shot put and the discus. These were incredible achievements from both athletes.

At the same time, Tom Kavanagh and Tiana Cetta travelled to Sydney to represent South Australia in the Australian Track and Field Championships. Both athletes competed in the 3000m in challenging conditions. Tom ran well in a big field of athletes and after an injury interrupted season, performed amazingly to run close to his personal best. Tiana Cetta ran her race perfectly to plan, holding third place for much of the race. She finished fifth in the end, running a personal best time which was amazing.
