The 6 Blue and 6 Red teams made the finals series in their respective divisions this season, continuing a strong tradition of our Year 6 netballers performing at a high standard.

The 6 Blue team played on 3rd September and challenged their opposition, recording their strongest result since being moved to the top division. Coached by Mrs. Alice Nixon and supported by Mrs. Brooke Calo the team went down narrowly to Hectorville Red.

Our first foray into finals after a challenging season. We knew it was going to be tough, but we set some goals and trained our hearts out with the belief that we could and would play the best game! And did we what …the drive through the middle to the goalies was superb and our defence outstanding limiting the play of a very tall opposition shooter. In what was our best game of the season we came within 2 goals, and we were only narrowly defeated by 4 goals by the final siren! Everyone should be immensely proud we ended on such a high! Watch out Senior School, you have some amazing players coming your way!!

The 6 Red team also played on 3rd September and had the benefit of finishing second in their division. This proved useful as one of our strongest players was ruled out on the morning of the game. Nevertheless, the team fought valiantly against an extraordinarily strong Comets team. There was much talk of needing to improve our leading and passing as we became aware we would need to play next week in the Prelim Final, with a chance to play in the Grand Final the following week. We are still playing in the competition and look forward to putting our best performance on court for the next final.

On 10th September the 6 Red team played in the prelim final against St Joseph’s, Payneham. At half time the score was close with Ignatius only 4 goals down. Unfortunately, the opposition found another gear and were able to stop the ball getting into the goal circle. All players continued to work and should be proud of making it so far into the finals series.

The Junior School is enormously proud of the way both teams have approached the finals and supported each other throughout the season.

We have also had some amazing results with all our other teams throughout the season. The 4 Blue team, coached by Mrs. Sarah Jackson and the Netta Red Team, coached by Mrs. Ayesha Brine completed their seasons undefeated. The 5 Blue and 3 Blue teams narrowly missed, also achieving this result. We had 12 teams competing this year with all students, coaches and parents working together – thanks to all for their efforts.
