The Year 12s and House Representatives arrived early at Norwood Swimming Centre and were very busy setting up their tents to reflect their house themes. The pool was brought to life with Xavier’s camp fire, Kostka made everyone feel at home with their hearts of gold theme. Campion Champions were looking to stop Xavier’s run of five consecutive swimming carnival shields, while the Regis responders made sure we were all keep safe throughout the day. It was pleasing to see so many students willing to test their boundaries by involving themselves in the more difficult 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly events. It was obvious from early in the day that the House with the best involvement was going to come out on top, as there were excellent swimmers across all four Houses. There was plenty of enthusiasm and energy shown by the students who participated in events to gain points for their House. The 50m freestyle was again very popular as was the 25m Walk/Run, with students flocking to the pool to have fun and race their friends. This medal recognises the student’s significant input into the House efforts for the carnival. With the split carnival, we awarded winners from each House in both Middle and Senior Years. It is always wonderful to watch the joy that students experience as they spend time with their friends and involve themselves in the events on offer. Xavier was awarded the House Swimming Shield for the sixth year in a row. Kostka won the House Spirit cup, as their middle and seniors years students showed constant support and encouragement throughout the day. The highlight of the carnival was without doubt the positive involvement of all the Year 12 students.
