We hosted Intercol with Mercedes College over the past few weeks. This involved programs in cross-country, chess, debating, hockey, soccer, basketball, table tennis, netball, and Australian rules. The annual intercollegiate competition is a wonderful conclusion to the winter sport season, and there is an overall positive atmosphere throughout. We thank our students who participated in events and as supporters, and so many others who assisted with coaching, welcoming, catering, and other duties. Special thanks go to Jess Morrish, Matt Panos, Serena Slade, Brianna Gotting, and many others for all the work they did in supporting teams from both schools throughout. Shields are presented in twenty-one events, and Saint Ignatius was successful in thirteen and Mercedes in eight. In the past six years, Saint Ignatius has won five Intercol carnivals, which is an encouraging trend given Saint Ignatius only won twice in the first thirteen years of the competition.

This week our Year 9s engaged in a Day of Reflection followed by several days in one of four venues – the Flinders, the Murray, York Peninsula, and the Limestone Coast. These camps provide opportunities for kayaking, fishing, surfing, caving, snorkelling, and mountain biking. There is a focus on learning to camp, connecting with others, and developing self-awareness.

Uncle Ivan has worked with Senior School students this week, enabling them to get a better sense of the traditional custodianship of the land on which the school is located.

We hope our students can celebrate their fathers and carers appropriately this weekend and look forward to seeing many at the Junior School on Monday morning for a Father's Day morning coffee and liturgy.

In the coming weeks, I shall accompany our incoming principal Lauren Brooks to Sydney and Melbourne to introduce her to key people at St Aloysius’ College Kirribilli, Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview, Xavier College Kew, and Province teams in Hawthorn and Richmond. Lauren will then participate in a retreat at Sevenhill. She is very eager to commence at the College and work with Barbara Watkins in Term 4.

We thank the parents and staff who attended the co-curricular consultation at the Mary Glowrey Centre this week. This gave an opportunity to present information about our plans and current implementation toward improving co-curricular across the College. It was especially helpful to receive ideas from those who participated in this consultation

OREMUS (Let us pray)

We remember all in our College community. May our prayers comfort those suffering at this time. May God’s blessing be a source of support in their sorrow and loss, and bring courage, patience, and hope.

“Ask and you shall receive … knock and the door will be opened unto you.” (Matt 7:7)

If you would like someone to be remembered by the College community in prayer (even anonymously), please provide details to the Rector, class or Mentor Teacher, or House Leader.
