With Mr Coffey, Ms Watkins, and Father Hosking, I welcome you all to Term 4.

In these weeks the Year 12s are completing their time at the College. The Year 12 students met individually with their Mentor Teachers at the end of Term 3 to reflect on their journey at Saint Ignatius' College. Most shared positively about their time at Saint Ignatius and how service to the community has formed their hearts forever. As we farewell our Year 12s next week, we are proud of their personal achievements and excited about how they will lead and shape our future.

Fifteen Year 10 students and five staff are currently on the Jarrumwani Immersion visiting the Nauyui community and St Francis Xavier Catholic School in Daly River, NT. This experience has been described as … a true journey of the heart! I am deeply grateful for the leadership of Mr Chris Toome and James Lodge, together with Danika Tremonte, Victoria Coxhill, Adam Grundy, and Angelo Picca, in keeping us connected to our mission of service for others.

This week is Anti-Poverty Week, and on Tuesday, which is our Faith and Service Day, all Houses gathered for a presentation in the Dennett Centre from Meg Morrison, Community Engagement Manager at Jesuit Mission Australia. The students appreciated listening to the stories of the first missionaries in Hazaribagh, India, and how the monies they raise make a true difference to the lives of the most vulnerable sisters and brothers, empowering them to live fuller and freer lives.

On Friday this week, Mrs Lisa McDonald, the Vocational Services Coordinator, arranged a Mentors Breakfast where past Ignatians shared with our Year 12 students about experiences at university and on career pathways. We thank Mrs McDonald for arranging this special event in our calendar.

On Friday evening, a special function was held to acknowledge Mr John Abela’s 25 years of service at the College. John started his teaching at the Junior School and was the Year 7 Coordinator at the Senior School for many years. We are most grateful to John for his dedication to the Ignatian community.

We look forward to the Term 4 co-curricular sport program starting this weekend.
