As we approach the end of Term 3, we are grateful that we have been able to enjoy the rich encounters of daily school life and avoid the greater impacts of COVID-19.

We thank Mr Matt Panos, Sports Coordinator, and Mr Aaron Dohse, Coordinator of Arts & Activities, for their great work navigating our co-curricular program, as they begin their planning for the summer season resuming week 1 next term.

In the recent 2022 SANFL grand final, Norwood were victorious by defeating North Adelaide by one point. Our Sports Coordinator, Matt Panos, kicked the winning goal in the dying stages of the game. Matt has now won 2 SANFL premiership medals and a Jack Oatey medal in 2014 for best on ground, and kicked a winning goal in a grand final across his career, so far! We also supported the Norwood team by allowing them to train on the Bourke Oval on Saturday followed by their team meeting in the Bellarmine Room. Our congratulations go to Matt and this year’s premiers!

This week we celebrated Arts & Activities Week with House-based activities during lunchtime, with competitions for chess and debating. Congratulations to the team from Xavier for winning chess; the winners of debating will be announced at next week’s assembly. The annual handball competition was held on Tuesday and for the second year in a row was won by Alex Holt. We are most grateful to the Coordinator of Arts & Activities, Mr Aaron Dohse, and the House Leaders for their organisation of these enjoyable events.

On Wednesday and Friday nights we also had the theatre arts performance of “Musical Memories”, a retrospective celebration of College musicals from 2012 to 2021, including pieces from Singin’ in the Rain, Beauty and the Beast, Grease, Hairspray, and Wicked. We are most grateful for the work of Ms Maria Minucci as producer, Mrs Karen Sheldon as director, and the many staff behind the scenes for bringing this joyous event to life!
