Homepage News/Calendar The Ignatian Newsletter From the Head of Senior School Article information Time 9 Jun 2023 This week our Year 7 students went as a year level to Woodhouse Activity Centre in the Adelaide Hills for their “Igxperience”. It was an opportunity for students to get to know each other better in a different context. Activities included a variety of outdoor learning experiences such as bushwalking to Mt George or Mt Lofty, orienteering, the tube slide, tribal challenge, and Challenge Hill. Before embarking on this program, the students enjoyed a Day of Reflection facilitated by the Faith and Service team. We are grateful to our House Leaders and Mentors for supporting the Year 7 students throughout the week. This morning we celebrated the Mass of the Sacred Heart in the Dennett Centre. This feast reminds us of the life-giving love of Jesus for each of us and helps us reflect on how we, in turn, share God’s love with others. The devotion dates back to the spiritual experiences of St Margaret Mary Alacoque in France from 1673 to 1675. Her spiritual director was St Claude la Colombiere SJ who helped her make sense of her visions. The Sacred Heart reminds us of the divine love that created us and that sustains us. This love is limitless. It is never exhausted, and it never gives up. Through grace, we too are capable of loving God, ourselves, and others to a degree that we might have thought impossible. As Christians – that is Christ-like people – we are called to show compassionate love to all.
